Arts for Art is rapidly expanding our efforts to raise awareness of avantjazz through our presentation, education and capacity building efforts. We have become especially busy as we take on our next challenge: The search for a building which can serve as a Center for Innovative Music and Art.

As we take on these challenges it is important to work with young people who are interested in building a career that makes an impact on the innovative musical culture on New York City. We feel it is vital and essential to the realization of our long term goals that we pass our understanding and experience on to those who can become valuable players in the effort to maintain an atmosphere which fosters the creation of artistic work in New York City.

Performing Arts / Events Coordinator Intern

Arts for Arts, Inc. is currently seeking an intern to assist in the coordination of the RUCMA Concert Series and Vision Collaboration Nights, in addition to various administrative duties.

Responsibilities:

• Write press releases
• Learn to design fliers and newsletters
• Work on marketing
• Contacting press regarding coverage of our events
• Bookkeeping
• Contacting artists before events to coordinate technical issues.
• Setting up sound system
• Working the door / box office
• Post-event cleanup.

Hours:

• 15 to 20 hours per week.

Compensation:

• University credit may be arranged

Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Mac OS, Word, Excel, Photoshop, Quark
• Interest in Jazz
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
